Doing Stuff Outdoors – Adventures for Outdoor Enthusiasts

As the title suggests Doing Stuff Outdoors is all about outdoor recreation, active living and adventure. It’s sort of a grab bag for everything outdoors.

Doing Stuff Outdoors is about active people getting the most out of life. It features outdoor news, interviews, equipment reviews and people telling their own stories of outdoor adventure. Doing Stuff Outdoors covers a wide variety of activities including skiing, hiking, boating, walking, kayaking, canoeing, biking, adventure travel, climbing and running. Our focus is mainly on people powered recreation but we’ll also deal with outdoor passions of all kinds like birding, gardening and other outdoor hobbies. If it’s an activity people do in the outdoors for fun it’ll be featured on DSO. It’s content for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy doing many things and aren’t afraid to try new adventures. It’s for people who want to live their lives to the fullest. The stories featured on DSO are meant to inform, inspire and entertain. And hopefully Doing Stuff Outdoors will help encourage those who aren’t very active to start living that healthier outdoors lifestyle.

Doing Stuff Outdoors is produced by Midwood Media. The audio edition of Doing Stuff Outdoors is a weekly 30 minute magazine style program hosted by Gary Mittelholtz. He’s an avid outdoor enthusiast with over 30 years experience in broadcasting. A separate and distinct video edition of Doing Stuff Outdoors is in production and will soon be available.dso-kayak-cover.jpg

Hi Gary, I really love listening to your podcast. I often listen while I’m working in my classroom after school or when I’m out walking. I wanted to let you know about a fantastic organization for women called Becoming an Outdoorswoman. I found out about it last year and I have enjoyed participating in several activities. It is an international organization, but since I’m in California, here is the California link. http://bowca.org/ Susan Herrgesell is the California director who is fabulous. Here is the link to the main page of BOW International. http://www.uwsp.edu/cnr/bow/ There are even events in Canada. I strongly suggest that you contact this group (especially Susan). They offer so much support in getting women out into the outdoors- especially those with little or no experience. On another note, I especially enjoy the trail magic episodes. Well, time to put the ipod back on and go outside to work in the yard.
